Sr. Game Designer
-
Nimble Giant is looking for Sr. Game Designer to join our studio.
We are looking for a Senior Game Designer to own combat and encounter design to join our team. Ideally, you are a creative, problem-solver, system-cracking wizard that thrives in dynamic environments where everyone is eager to build upon each other’s ideas and engage in constructive discussions with only the best user experience possible in mind.
As part of our Game Design Team, you will be working side by side with the Lead Game Designer and the Game Director to help outline, define, and implement high-level features and mechanics that will shape our games’ experience, while also collaborating with other designers and developers throughout their implementation to see them through to the final product.
Responsibilities
Own the functional definition and delivery of a given feature that meets the goals and standards of the Design Vision.
Work iteratively and in close collaboration with other team members to tweak, modify, or rework your designs as needed.
Generate clear documentation and support materials to allow other developers to seamlessly implement your designs.
Collaborate with other developers, making sure at all times that every team member has access to the context and definitions necessary for the optimal implementation of each feature.
Find ways to efficiently test your designs and iterate quickly.
Monitor how users experience the designs implemented in the game and validate their quality and effectiveness.
Stay up to date with design paradigms and industry trends that may be relevant to our game.
Help other team members to better understand your discipline and your designs.
Requirements
3+ years in game design for PC/console, with at least 1 shipped title in a senior or lead gameplay design role.
Proven ownership of combat and gameplay systems (encounters, weapons, AIs, abilities, character stats, game modes, level design) from concept to live tuning. Preferably in first person games.
Confident in using engine tools and scripting (Unreal) to prototype, iterate and debug gameplay features hands-on.
Data- and playtest-driven: able to define KPIs, read telemetry, and turn feedback into concrete balance and design changes.
Enjoy building grounded, tense, high-lethality gameplay where positioning, information, and preparation matter more than pure stats
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Perks
Experience with Unreal.
Experience with live games and metric-driven design.
Experience with FPS.
Experience with agile methodologies.
Experience with iterative design and rapid prototyping.
Experience with coding or scripting is a plus.
