Nimble Giant Entertainment is looking for a full-time Senior UI Engineer
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality user interface systems for our games using Unreal Engine and UMG. You will work closely with Designers, Artists, and Engineers to ensure seamless integration of UI features into the overall game experience.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a user-centered mindset, thrives in interdisciplinary environments, and contributes to improving both workflow and player experience.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize UI systems and features using Unreal Engine (UMG, Blueprints, and C++).
Collaborate with Game Designers, UI/UX designers, and other engineering teams to translate wireframes and prototypes into functional in-game interfaces.
Ensure UI features meet performance, memory, and platform constraints.
Integrate UI systems with gameplay, backend, and engine components.
Provide Producers, Engineering Managers, and Leads with progress updates, technical insights, risk assessments, and effort estimates.
Develop, configure, and test UI features according to project requirements across multiple environments (dev, prod, live).
Produce and maintain documentation.
Apply and promote best engineering practices, coding standards, and optimization techniques.
Requirements
4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience game industry working with UI or gameplay systems.
Proficient in C++, with solid software engineering principles
Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, especially UMG, UI widgets, layout systems, animations, and Blueprint integration.
Experience working through all stages of development (pre-production to launch), with at least one shipped game title.
Proven ability to build UI subsystems and integrate them with broader game architecture.
Extensive experience testing and debugging across multiple environments.
Experience developing for PC and ideally at least one additional platform.
Strong understanding of performance considerations, memory usage, and UI optimization.
Ability to collaborate with Design, Art, QA, and Production to improve workflows and pipelines.Strong time management, autonomy, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Nice to have
Experience developing or launching cross-platform titles.
Experience working on 3rd-person or FPS games with complex HUDs.
Experience working with Inventory, Shops, Grid Base interfaces.
Shipped titles on multiple platforms (PC, consoles, etc.).
Large-scale game development experience.
Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine UI optimization, Slate, or advanced UI frameworks.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
